Day 7: Last Dolomite Day

Truly a beautiful part of God's glorious creation,  the Dolomites are a visual feast and the Italian and Germanic influences help create a gastronomy that's pretty unique as well.

The sun was shining this morning and so a small hike around a nearby lake was the plan. Little did we know the beauty that awaited. (And not that crowded).

Sunny morning=outdoor breakfast!
Yogurt,  fresh fruit, bacon,  scrambled eggs with caviar(what?) and fresh squeezed juices plus a cappuccino started us off just right.
We drove 30 minutes to the end of this valley,  parked near the Olympic Biathlon stadium, and headed towards the lake.
Wildlife is always a treat.
Colors, reflections, panoramas... perfect!

So nice!

A visual treat for the entire 3 mile circumference.

Can't wait for the Olympics to watch this area (and Milan) host the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Gold medal winner for sure!

Lunch and German adult beverages... nice treat.
Fettuccine with wild local mushrooms.
Hmmm,  which one is mine and which one is Gary's?

These 2 additional photos were taken upon our return to the hotel... one showing the valley we drove to for the hike today and the other is the hotel's infinity pool... it really does hang that far over and that far out.

Already a very long daily blog, let me add to it with some dinner excellence... random photos that hopefully highlight the creativity of the chef and the beauty of the location. Steve and Elva, and others, should find their way here for a week.
Last night of the power table!
Great menu choices.
The buffet before the menu gets served.
The sommelier recommendation for best local wine... Tobin James also makes a nice wine from the lagrein grape.
Corn chowder, plus stuff, plus cheddar popcorn... no way!
Barley risotto with a lamb ragout?

My ❤️! Today is 575 plus 1 month plus 1 day!
